HTTP status 409

Meaning

An order with this external_order_id (or Idempotency-Key) already exists, but the body you sent differs from the original.

Typical causes

  • The same external_order_id was reused for a different order.
  • The order was changed after the first send and sent again.
  • An Idempotency-Key was reused for a different request.

How to fix it

  • Use a unique external_order_id per order.
  • When retrying, send exactly the same body.
  • Fetch the existing order with GET /v1/orders?external_order_id=....
